1942 in Hamburg geboren,
Lehre als Schilder- und Reklamemaler, danach Bundeswehr und für einige Jahre in der Gastronomie. Dann folgten eine Ausbildung zum Tiefdruckätzer mit dem Schwerpunkt Farbkorrektur (Zylinderkorrektur) und der Besuch einer Fachschule für das grafische Gewerbe.
Die Kunst lief immer mit mir mit.
Ab 1990 begann der langsame Einstieg in die professionelle Arbeit.
Für mich gibt es keine Schublade in die ich hineinpasse und wenn sie noch so groß ist, es wäre mir darin zu eng. Die Themenvielfalt in der Malerei ist für mich so gewaltig, ich kann und will mich nicht in eine Stilrichtung festlegen. Meine Gedanken und Gefühle in der Kunst sind wie die Wettervorhersage, man weiß nicht wo am nächsten Tag der Wind hinweht.
